Community Guidelines

Last Updated: June 2025

Welcome to Else Speaking Club — a space where people from around the world connect, learn, and grow together through live English conversations. Learning a language is a deeply personal journey, and speaking with others can be both exciting and vulnerable. These guidelines are here to make sure that everyone feels respected, safe, and encouraged to participate.

When you join a session, create one, or interact with others, you’re agreeing to follow these Community Guidelines. If you see behavior that goes against these principles, please let us know by reporting it in-app. We’re here to help.

❌ What’s Not Allowed

Child Safety & Protection

Any form of sexualization, exploitation, or endangerment of minors is strictly prohibited. This includes inappropriate content shared with or about minors. Such incidents will be reported to relevant authorities where required.

Harassment or Bullying

We do not tolerate threats, bullying, mocking, or harassment of any kind — whether through speech, images, or other means. This includes unwanted advances, aggressive behavior, or targeting someone based on personal traits or identity.

Hate Speech & Discrimination

Disrespectful or hateful behavior toward others based on race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, age, or ability will result in account action. Language learning should build bridges, not walls.

Misinformation & Manipulation

Else is not a platform for spreading harmful health misinformation, conspiracy theories, or content meant to deceive or manipulate. We prohibit deepfakes, AI-generated false content, or information that may lead to harm.

Violence & Extremism

Any content promoting violence, terrorism, self-harm, or the glorification of such acts is strictly banned. This includes graphic descriptions, threats, or incitement to cause harm.

Sexual Content & Nudity

Explicit sexual discussions, sexual imagery, or nudity are not allowed. While we understand language learners may discuss adult topics in context, all sessions must remain respectful and non-exploitative.

Illegal Activities & Scams

Don’t use the app to promote, solicit, or engage in illegal activity. That includes selling prohibited goods, running scams, or sharing instructions on how to engage in illegal behavior.

Impersonation

Be yourself. Don’t impersonate another person, educator, or public figure. Profiles and usernames should reflect your real identity unless pseudonyms are necessary for safety.

Intellectual Property

Only share content you own or have permission to use. Respect copyright laws, including for books, videos, and lesson materials.

🚫 Behavior That’s Not OK

Disruptive Behavior

Don’t intentionally interrupt or ruin learning sessions for others. This includes spamming, shouting, trolling, or derailing the conversation with off-topic or abusive comments.

Spam & Unwanted Contact

Sending repetitive, irrelevant messages, invites, or joining sessions with the intent to promote external services or products is prohibited.

False Reporting

We take reports seriously. Please do not abuse the reporting system. Submitting false claims or encouraging others to do so may result in suspension.

Multiple Accounts & Bot Activity

Users may not create multiple accounts to avoid restrictions or manipulate interactions, reviews, or attendance.

📚 Learning with Respect

Learning a language means making mistakes — and that’s okay. This is a space where everyone should feel supported, regardless of their skill level. Here’s how we can support each other:

  • Be patient with others as they speak, even if they pause or mispronounce words.

  • Be encouraging, not judgmental.

  • Listen as much as you speak — good communication is a two-way street.

🌍 Human Rights & Expression

We believe in the power of language to connect people. Our policies are designed to protect freedom of expression while maintaining a safe environment for all learners. We consult with experts in human rights, safety, and online education to help us uphold these standards.
